THE INTERNET CONNECTIONThe most important thing in your business will be your Internet connection. Most of the DSLs and BROADBAND connections in the marketing will give you enough bandwidth to hook up to 15 clients simultaneously to your HotSpot.
However, if you have more than 15 people at the same time using your connection, means that you are making money enough to increase the bandwidth of your DSL or Broadband. Isn't it?
So, let's not worry about your Internet connection, since you can increase its capability as you need. THE ETHERNET ADAPTERA second Ethernet card is required in order to have EggKey Gateway running properly.
The ideal Ethernet card would be a 100Mbits PCI card, that you can purchase right now clicking on the pictures below:
CROSSOVER CABLEIf you want to connect your wireless Access Point directly to your PC without using a HUB, you probably will need to have a CROSSOVER CABLE.
A CROSSOVER CABLE looks like a regular Ethernet cable but has internaly a pair of wires twisted. It is usefull to connect two PCs without using HUBs.
Some Access Points do not require a CROSSOVER CABLE to be connected directly to your PC, so check your AP's specifications before buying it.
THE SERVERThe server is also something that will depend on the number of clients you will have sharing the same connection.
A fast server can send out the clients' requests faster. So, again in order to have up to 15 clients connected at the same time you would need at least one computer with the following configuration:Free HD space: 100Mb Memory (RAM): 256Mb Processor: Pentium III 600Mhz OS: Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows 2003 THE Wi-Fi ACCESS POINTHere comes a good issue.
Technically you need only a 802.11x Access Point. It does not need to be router or having DHCP feature, because EggKey Gateway will take care of this part.
We recommend you to get an Access Point which accepts both 802.11b and 802.11g connections. This way, you will be able to serve the two most used wireless connection type.
Range is also something you need to care about. If the antena cannot be physically near to the target place, you may consider to buy a long range access point.
