Indeed, EggKey Gateway used as suggested here is a secure way to share your Internet Connection with wireless users.

First, the wireless users will not be connected to your network. They will be in a different range of IP (192.168.11.xxx). Even if you have a Private Network already installed in your site, as long this network is not 192.168.11.xxx you will be safe.

EggKey Gateway is a proxy server and only support a limited number of protocols. Your clients won't be able even to PING any machine outside the 192.168.11.xxx range.

These are the supported protocols:

HTTP - regular www pages

HTTPS - secure www pages

FTP - File Transfer Protocol

It is possible setting up your computer to provide NAT to your users. In this case, your users will be able to use any Internet service through your gateway.

Even though your Network is safe, you need to remember that your GATEWAY MACHINE (the coputer that is connected to the wireless Access Point) will be accessible by your clients through the 192.168.11.1 Ethernet card. If you have protocols other than TCP/IP attached to your adapter, the GATEWAY MACHINE's security may become compromised.

In order to avoid this threat you just need to be careful when you share any resource of this machine, such as folders, printers, etc. Just do not let it open to everyone. We suggest you to apply security polices on this machine.
