There are many ways to setup your access point to use EggKey gateway. However, we will describe here the most secure way to do it.
There are many different brands and models of APs in the marketing right now. All of them have their interface to allow you to setup their features. Refer to the user's manual of your AP to know how to set it up. Most of these APs have a WEB interface that allow you to set it up just using your regular browser.
These are the parameter you need to setup:IP Address: Your AP MUST be in the same range of the private network used by EggKey Gateway. We suggest you to use the IP (192.168.11.2) for your AP, but you can use any IP from (192.168.11.2 - 192.168.11.99). If you have more than one AP just use (192.168.11.3, 192.168.11.4, etc). IMPORTANT: The IP 192.168.11.1 and the range between (192.168.11.100 - 192.168.11.255) should never be used. They are used by your GATEWAY Ethernet adapter and EggKey Gateway's DHCP server.
Gateway: The Gateway IP address of your AP have to be: 192.168.11.1 (the address of your Ethernet adapter).
Subnet Mask: Just leave 255.255.255.0. This is the default.
Router Features: If your AP has internal NAT or any other ROUTER feature, just disable it.
WEP: Disable any WEP password. We need to leave the AP open to everyone. EggKey Gateway will block non-authorized users.
SID: Use a suggestive name for your SID such as "InternetHere" or "EggKeyHotSpot" or "YourComapanyHostSpot".Also, enable the broadcasting of your SID name. It will let people know of your AP.
DHCP: If your AP has a DHCP server feature, disable it. EggKey Gateway will also control this function.
Protocol: Many APs give you option to select what wi-fi protocol it should accept (802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g). If you see any option like this select MIXED or ALL. |
